The Definitive List of the Best Sidney Sheldon Books

Sidney Sheldon BooksI first learnt about Sidney Sheldon thanks to the show, I Dream of Jeannie but I began reading Sidney Sheldon Books while I was still in school and immediately was sucked into his world of fictional murders and dramas. The surprising part is that even now, Sidney Sheldon Books continue to hold my attention just the same and it’s no surprise then when Wikipedia says, he’s the sixth bestselling writer of all times. (Jeffery Archer is also in that list; you can read my list of the Top 10 Jeffery Archer books as well)

Sidney Sheldon remains one of the world’s bestselling authors, with Sidney Sheldon books having sold more than 250 million copies worldwide and The Best Laid Plans was his most recent in a long line of New York Times bestsellers. He is also the only writer to have won an Oscar, a Tony, and an Edgar, and the latest Guinness Book of Records heralds him as the most translated writer in the world. That is the power of Sidney Sheldon Books!

So without further ado, let me present to you this unofficial list of the Top 10 Sidney Sheldon Books that are a must read for everyone.

1. Windmills of the GodsWindmills of the Gods

Starting off this list of the best Sidney Sheldon Books is one of my favourites, Windmills of the Gods. This was one of my first Sidney Sheldon books and I was immediately drawn into his world of murder mysteries and since that day, there’s been no looking back. The novel follows the story of Mary Ashley, an ambassador of the United States to one of the Iron Countries and who has been marked for death by the world’s most proficient and mysterious assassin, and plunged into a nightmare of espionage, kidnapping and terror.

Sidney Sheldon books are really hard to put down once you’ve begun them and Windmills of the Gods is a classic example of that. Written brilliantly, this book has enough twists and turns to keep you up all night and the climax is truly explosive and one that you won’t forget in a long time. Truly one of the best Sidney Sheldon Books ever!

Making its way in at #2 on this list of the top Sidney Sheldon books is another one of my all time favourites titled, Nothing Lasts Forever. This was one of the first medical thrillers I’d ever read and really loved the overall plot.

This book traces the life of 3 doctors; Dr. Paige Taylor, Dr. Kat Hunter and Dr. Honey Taft and right from the life and death decisions of the operating room to the tension-packed fireworks of a murder trial, Sidney Sheldon lays bare the ambitions and fears of healers and killers, lovers and betrayers in a heart-stopping story you wish would never end.

3. The Doomsday ConspiracyThe Doomsday Conspiracy

The Doomsday Conspiracy is not just one of my all time favourite Sidney Sheldon books; it ranks as one of the best fiction thrillers I’ve read in a long, long time. Some of you might say that the ending was not realistic but you can’t take away anything from the stunning plot.

One of the most thrilling Sidney Sheldon books, The Doomsday Conspiracy follows the adventures of Commander Robert Bellamy of the US Naval Intelligence who is dispatched on a top secret mission after a weather balloon carrying sensitive military information crashes and now Bellamy must locate the ten witnesses to the incident so that they can be sworn to secrecy.

But everything is not what it seems and Bellamy soon finds out that he is now at the center of a conspiracy involving nations and enterprises and no one, not even the love of his life, can be trusted!

“From Washington to Zurich, Rome and Paris, the story unfolds to reveal Bellamy’s past – why the women he loves the most cannot return his love, why his friends become his deadly enemies, and why the world must never learn the incredible secret hidden on the Swiss Alps”

Don’t just take my word for it. This is what another reviewer of the book wrote on the Flipkart Review section:

Bloodline was among the first Sidney Sheldon books that I read while in school and with that was introduced to the world of the rich and famous who have murder on their minds. It tells the story of the protagonist, the young and beautiful Elizabeth Roffe, who is also the heir to a billion dollar empire.

From shady backstreets to the up-market offices of the Roffe Empire, Bloodline is a hypnotic tale of love and ambition, danger, intrigue and death.

I like “The Other Side of Midnight” and “Are You Afraid of the Dark”.
Sidney Sheldon is like the guy equivalent of Danielle Steele.

He has provided inspiration for some of my own ideas, including:
“The Longest Season”
“The Next Day’s Fortunes”
“The Wild Winds of Love”

I do teen/young adult fiction, sci-fi and adventure, and suspense dramas and thrillers.
