Book Review of I Too Had A Love Story

I Too Had A Love StoryI don’t really dig romantic novels but somehow last week, I ended up ordering Ravinder Singh’s I Too Had A Love Story from Flipkart and began reading it this weekend. I had kind of expected how the book would end after reading the synopsis on its cover but reading it was a different experience altogether and I was actually quite blown away by the book.

The Plot of I Too Had A Love Story

I Too Had A Love Story is a debut novel written by an Indian author, Ravinder Singh. It’s an account of his true love story and his experience is what prompted him to write this book in the first place.

I Too Had A Love Story starts of with a reunion of 4 friends who like all boys meet up some years after college to catch up on each other’s life. As it is with all testosterone driven males, the discussion veers off to girls, girls and well, again girls! The 4 friends, MP, Happy, Amardeep and Ravinder discuss marriage, the fallacy of it and what it’s like to find your true love.

This is the starting point of I Too Had A Love Story. The plot thickens once Ravinder returns back to his place and while sharing photos of the reunion trip, he clicks upon an innocuous ad in his inbox that leads him to a matrimonial site. Since the conversations of the reunion were still in his mind, he decides to go with the flow and creates his profile out of curiosity. And that’s how Khushi comes into his life!

The book, I Too Had A Love Story, takes on from there and explores the various nuances of a budding romance – the late night messages, the tiffs and make-ups, the first meeting and that special first kiss. It’s a brilliant take on a young couple’s blooming romance and that’s what forms the backdrop of the story. I don’t want to spoil the ending so I suggest you actually go ahead and read the book in its entirety.

The Good Bit about I Too Had A Love Story

The Honesty is what stand outs! The conviction and honesty with which Ravinder narrates his story is what drives the book and endears the characters to your hearts. The language is simple at times but you can feel the emotions pouring out of every page in I Too Had A Love Story. I’m normally not a very mushy mushy person but there are passages in the book that make your heart cry out and one actually becomes a part of Ravinder and Khushi’s love story.

The book starts of with this passage “Not everyone in this world has the fate to cherish the fullest form of love. Some are born, just to experience the abbreviation of it.” The book, I Too Had A Love Story, aptly captures this and pays tribute to the maxim “Don’t cry because it’s over but instead smile because it had happened.”

The Not So Good Bit about I Too Had A Love Story

Honestly speaking, there is little at fault with this book. I simply loved it and though the language could have been better at places, the sheer honesty with which this book is written makes one overlook all those small niggles.

For everyone who’s ever been in love or for someone who’s always wanted to know what love feels like, I Too Had A Love Story is a must read for you. From joy to tears, from happiness to sadness, from a beating heart to an aching one, this book will take you on a journey that will make you rethink the word Relationships!

Final Verdict on I Too Had A Love Story

Buy I Too Had A Love Story from FlipkartI Too Had A Love Story by Ravinder Singh is a great first attempt by any author. It’s a short, sweet and simple read that you’ll be glad you took time out for.

Another great fact is that this book doesn’t cost much. It’s very economically priced at INR 100 but my suggestion would be to buy this from Flipkart where you can get for INR 60! That’s a 40% Discount on I Too Had A Love Story!

I realised that some or the other incident would have definitely happened with everyone which makes everyone so touched about this story that once we start reading this story , we can take a sigh of relief only after finishing this story.

I am wandering that what happens next, because I would like to know how is writer feeling at present. Has he forgotten his time which he had spent with Khushi or if there is any other girl exists in his life at the moment.

Eagerly waiting for the next part of the story.
