Amar Chitra Katha Complete CollectionBook Review of Amar Chitra Katha Complete Collection

For every Indian child that grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, Amar Chitra Katha Complete Collection were the books that transported you into your world of fantasy; the world where anything was possible and nothing was impossible. Jataka Tales and the adventures of Krishna were some of favourite books and helped shape the respect that I have now for my culture and values. So if you have a child or a nephew, the Amar Chitra Katha Complete Collection is a must buy gift item.

Amar Chitra Katha Complete Collection – Why It’s a Must Buy

Everyone knows the most famous uncle of this country, Uncle Pai! His books are not only loved by children but his collection of stories transcends every age, gender and caste that our country can think of. The Amar Chitra Katha Complete Collection was conceived and published to bring Indians close to their culture and rich heritage.

Shikari ShambhuBooks like Tinkle have redefined the word of comic books. The stories of Shikari Shambhu and Supandi have entertained us for generations while Kalia the Crow still impresses me with his wits. The characters in Tinkle are featured prominently in Amar Chitra Katha and is surely something that you would want your children to know all about.

Another one of my favorites’ from the Amar Chitra Katha Complete Collection is Chandamama. For me, Chandamama has over the years scored over the Chandamama in the sky. The latter has been conquered by mankind but no one has been able to ape the originality and story-telling abilities of the publication. No Harry Potter, no magic wand, no Frodo Baggins and no Vampire tale can snatch our love for Chandamama. And I know that I am speaking for hundreds and thousands of parents, grandparent and children of the SMS league

But for me, the best reason for buying The Amar Chitra Katha Complete Collection is epitomized by one of my friends. He has had a Christian upbringing but his knowledge of the Hindu religion is so strong and accurate that sometimes he corrects people on a name or the reason behind a Hindu festival or tradition. And the reason for this is that he grew up reading Amar Chitra Katha and absolutely devoured every word in them. Isn’t that the best reason why your child or your loved one should be given a gift set of these books!
